And add a regular or endnote by clicking on the appropriate item. The footnote mark will be placed in the required location. The footnote itself will be at the bottom of the page if it is a regular footnote. An endnote will be located at the end of the document. “Applications”
When working with large documents in Word, you sometimes need to explain a term, indicate the source of a quote, or add a comment without cluttering up the main text. That's what footnotes are for. They help make your document more professional and easier to read by allowing you to move additional information to the bottom of the page. These utilities are your personal sound engineer. They not only show whether the microphone is working, but also allow you to hear yourself from the outside, assess the volume and clarity of the sound. This is much more effective than just looking at the jumping indicator in the system settings. Click

Ctrl+Alt+F
If you want to change the location or format of the footnote, open the dialog box Using the system stability monitor we also discussed the procedure using another popular antivirus program, Avast, in a separate article at the link below. The procedure is roughly the same for other programs. Then click the button
- Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar. Make sure you click on an empty space, not on application icons or system elements. In the context menu that appears, select the item “Taskbar Settings”.

- Alternatively, you can open “Settings” via the menu “Start” and go to the section Personalization — “Taskbar”.

- In the settings window that opens, find the block “Taskbar items”. Here you will find switches to control the visibility of various taskbar components.

- Function “Search” has several display modes. Accordingly, to completely disable it, you will need to expand the list and select the item “Hide”.

- If you need to return the search to the taskbar, repeat these steps, but select one of the other possible status options.
This method works in all current builds of Windows 11 and does not affect other system functions. Disabling search via system settings “Settings” is the recommended method, as Microsoft has provided this option as a standard personalization feature.
Method 2: Change via “Registry Editor”
“Registry Editor” allows you to control the display of search results at a deeper level of the system, which is useful in cases where the standard settings are unavailable or do not work correctly. This method is also suitable for mass application of settings via group policies in a corporate environment.
- Press the key combination Win + R to open the dialog box “Run”. Enter the command
regeditand click Enter to start Registry Editor.
- In the editor window that appears, follow the path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search, using the folder tree on the left side of the interface or simply by pasting it into the address bar at the top.
- On the right side of the window, find the parameter named
SearchboxTaskbarMode. If this parameter is not available, right-click in an empty area and select “Create” — DWORD (32-bit) parameter.
- Double-click on the parameter
SearchboxTaskbarModein the names and set its value:0to completely hide the search,1tab to display only the search icon.2or3to display the full search string.
- Click “OK” to save the changes and close “Registry Editor”. The changes will take effect immediately without the need to restart the system.
Working with the registry requires caution, so it is recommended that you create a backup copy of the registry before making any changes. If problems arise, you can restore the original settings by returning the parameter to its original value.
If the search button on the taskbar in Windows 11 is in the way or you don't use it, you can quickly remove it — just right-click on the taskbar, select “Taskbar settings,” find the “Search” section, and select ‘Hide’ instead of “Button.” After that, the icon will disappear, and there will be a little more space on the bar. It's simple and doesn't require any additional programs.
Method 3: Using the command line
“Command Prompt” provides a quick way to disable search by executing a single command, which is convenient for experienced users and system administrators. You can use the following instructions if you need to automate settings or apply changes to multiple computers.
- Press the key combination Win + X and select “Terminal (Administrator)” from the quick access menu.

- In the window Command Prompt with administrator rights, enter the following command and click Enter:
reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search /v SearchboxTaskbarMode /d 0 /t REG_DWORD /f.
- After executing the command, the search will immediately disappear from the taskbar. To return the search, use a similar command, replacing the value
/d 0on/d 2.
- Close Command Prompt no additional action is required. The command automatically creates or modifies the necessary registry setting without manual editing.
This method is equivalent to editing the registry manually, but it is much faster and eliminates the possibility of errors when navigating the registry sections.
Method 4: PFg Group Policies
“Local Group Policy Editor” provides an administrative way to manage taskbar items, and “Start”, which is preferable in a corporate environment or for users with advanced privileges. “Group Policies” ensures more reliable application of settings and protection against accidental configuration changes. This tool cannot completely remove the button, but you can restrict the use of search, including via the menu “Start”. You can use it in a number of cases, if necessary. However, keep in mind that the following steps can only be applied in Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise. In other editions, this tool is not available, and you will have to choose other methods from this article.
- Open the dialog box “Run” using the key combination Win + R and enter the command
gpedit.msc. Click Enter to start “Group Policy Editor”.
- In the left pane of the editor, navigate to “User Configuration” — “Administrative Templates” — “Start Menu and Taskbar”.

- On the right side, find the policies related to search restrictions, select the one you want to restrict, and double-click on the policy to open its properties.
- In the settings window that opens, select the status “Enabled” to disable search or “Disabled” to remove restrictions. Click “OK” to apply the changes.
- Restart your computer or run the command
gpupdate /forcein “Command Prompt” for faster policy application.
As you can see, removing the search icon from the taskbar in Windows 11 is a simple task that can be done in just a couple of clicks. You can choose to either remove it completely or replace it with a more compact button, freeing up valuable space.
So even if you can't download updates using Windows 10 Update Center, you can still do it. What's more, the offline installers downloaded this way can also be used to install updates on computers without Internet access (or with limited access).
This will restore your smartphone to its factory settings, and all data stored on the internal storage will also be deleted. But if synchronization with cloud storage, such as Google Drive, is active, it will be easy to recover your files and contacts.
