If you encountered an error related to the d3dx10_43.dll file when trying to run a game or program, you are not alone. This is a fairly common problem that upsets many people. Most often, a message appears on the screen saying that this file is missing or not found, and the application simply refuses to work.
The Windows disk management interface is quite simple and straightforward — at the top, you see a list of all volumes with information about them (one hard drive can and often does contain several volumes or logical partitions), and at the bottom, you see the connected drives and the partitions they contain. In most cases, the cause of the failure in question is simple carelessness: the user has disabled the audio output themselves. To check this, follow these steps:

Method 1: Download d3dx10_43.dll
You can fix the error by installing the missing library in Windows yourself.
Some tasks, such as creating and attaching a virtual disk, are available in the “Action” item of the main menu. What each type of volume represents:
The directory to which the d3dx10_43.dll file should be moved has a different path depending on the operating system version. So, in Windows 32 bit it is only C:\Windows\System32, and in 64 bit — both it and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 here you need to open the auxiliary menu by tapping the button with three dots in the upper right corner.
So, to install the d3dx10_43.dll library, do the following:
- Download the DLL to your computer. Open the folder with this file and place it in the clipboard. To do this, select the library and press the key combination Ctrl+C. The same action can be performed by right-clicking on the file and selecting “Copy”.
- Go to the system directory and paste the previously copied file by pressing the keys Ctrl+V or using the option “Paste” from the context menu.
This completes the library installation. If the applications still refuse to start, giving the same error, then most likely this is because Windows has not registered the library. You will have to do this yourself: via “Start” open “Command Prompt”, be sure to do this as an administrator.

Write the command regsvr32 d3dx10_43.dll and press Enter. Users who have placed the file in both folders must additionally type regsvr32 “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\d3dx10_43.dll”.
You can also use the software registration method: we have written about this in Method 1 articles at the link below.

Method 2: Installing DirectX 10
As mentioned earlier, you can fix the error by installing the DirectX 10 package on your system, so let's talk about how to do that. First, let's mention Windows 10 users, for whom DirectX is a built-in component and is updated through system updates. Since there is no need to install these libraries separately, the methods for fixing them and downloading missing files are slightly different from the usual steps. We have separate instructions for you at the link below.
More details: Reinstalling and adding missing DirectX components in Windows 10
Those with Windows 7 and below will have to follow the standard recommendations.
Download DirectX 10
- Go to the official DirectX installer download page.
- Select the Windows OS language from the list and click “Download”.
- In the window that appears, uncheck all the additional software items and click “Cancel and continue”.
After that, DirectX will start downloading to your computer. Once it is finished, go to the folder with the downloaded installer and follow these steps:
- Open the installer as an administrator. You can do this by right-clicking on the file and selecting the appropriate item from the menu.
- In the window that appears, set the switch opposite the line “I accept the terms of this agreement”, and then click “Next”.
- Check or uncheck the box next to “Install Bing Panel” (according to your decision), then click “Next”.
- Wait for the initialization process to complete and click “Next”.
- Wait for the package components to finish downloading and installing.
- Click “Finish”, to close the installer window and complete the DirectX installation.
Once the installation is complete, the dynamic library d3dx10_43.dll will be added to the system, after which all applications will work normally.
An error with the d3dx10_43.dll file usually prevents games or programs from running because this file is part of the old graphics components. Most often, the problem is solved by installing or reinstalling the DirectX 10 library or the Visual C++ package, which come with the game or can be downloaded from the official Microsoft website. It is important not to search for this file in questionable places — it is better to update the necessary system components, and the error will disappear on its own.
Method 3: Windows Update
As we mentioned above, since DirectX is a built-in component of Windows 10, this method is primarily intended for users who use this version of the OS. However, it is quite possible that this advice will also help those with older versions of Windows, since updates are designed not only to add new features to the system, but also to eliminate various conflicts, errors, crashes, and system malfunctions. If you have Windows 10, check for and install updates as follows:
- Expand “Start” and go to “Settings”.
- Here, find the section “Update and Security”.
- Click on the button “Check for updates”, if they were not found automatically earlier. If there are new packages available, install them, and if they were already installed, use our other methods to fix the DLL error. If an error occurred instead of searching for updates, or if your OS version differs from the one above, use one of the appropriate links below to find all the useful information you need.

Installing updates on Windows 10 / Windows 7 / Windows XP
As you can see, the problem with the d3dx10_43.dll file is not the end of the world, but a fairly common glitch. Most often, it is associated with games or programs that require certain components from Microsoft to work.
The main thing is not to download this file from questionable sites. This is the most unreliable method, which can infect your computer with viruses. Instead, it is safer and more effective to reinstall the official DirectX package or check the integrity of the game files through the launcher.
In most cases, these simple steps will help you quickly get everything back up and running. If the error persists, it may be a sign of more serious problems with the system or video card drivers, but this is quite rare.
