Are you getting an error saying that the d3dx11_43.dll library cannot be found on your computer? You are not alone. This problem often occurs when launching games or graphics applications, especially after a fresh installation or system update.
This file is part of the DirectX package, an important set of technologies from Microsoft that is responsible for graphics and sound in modern programs. The error appears when the system cannot find the required file, and the application simply refuses to start.
Fortunately, this problem is usually quite easy to solve. Most often, installing the latest version of DirectX or reinstalling a specific component will fix the issue. Let's take a look at how to do this quickly and safely.
Method 1: Download d3dx11_43.dll
The d3dx11_43.dll library can be downloaded to your PC yourself, after which it will need to be installed. The installation process is performed by copying the library file to the system directory:
- Windows 32 bit:
C:\Windows\System32. - Windows 64 bit:
C:\Windows\System32andC:\Windows\SysWOW64.
To install the DLL file, do the following:
Download d3dx11_43.dll
- Go to the folder where the d3dx11_43.dll library was downloaded and copy it. You can do this either using the context menu called up by right-clicking or using the hotkey Ctrl+C.
- Go to the system directory. Paste the copied library using the same context menu or hotkey. Ctrl+V.
After completing these steps, the error should be fixed, but in some cases, Windows may not register the library automatically, and you will have to do it yourself. To do this, open “Start” > Command Prompt > “Run as administrator”.

Type the command regsvr32 d3dx11_43.dll and confirm with the key Enter. If the file was added to two folders, you will need to enter another command: regsvr32 “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\d3dx11_43.dll”.
Alternatively, you can try registering using a third-party program. We talked about this in Method 1 the following material.
More details: Registering a DLL file in Windows
After completing all the steps in the instructions, the missing d3dx11_43.dll file will be placed in the system, and the error will be fixed.
Method 2: Installing DirectX 11
The d3dx11_43.dll file is initially installed on the system when DirectX 11 is installed. This software package should come with the game or program that is giving the error, but for some reason it was not installed, or the user damaged the necessary file due to ignorance. In principle, the reason is not important. To fix the situation, you will need to install DirectX 11, but first you need to download the installer for this package.
For Windows 10 users, the instructions will differ because DirectX and all its versions are built into the operating system, which means they are added/corrected along with system updates. Therefore, we have a separate guide for you.

For those using Windows 7 and below, the algorithm is as follows:
Download the DirectX installer
- Follow the link to the official download page for the package.
- Select the language your operating system is translated into. Click “Download”.
- In the window that appears, uncheck the boxes for the additional packages offered.
- Press the button “Cancel and continue”.
After downloading the DirectX installer to your computer, run it and do the following:
- Accept the license terms by checking the appropriate box, then click ‘Next’.
- Choose whether to install the Bing bar in your browsers by checking the box next to the corresponding line. Then press “Next”.
- Wait for initialization to complete, then press “Next”.
- Wait for the installation of DirectX components to complete.
- Click “Finish”.
Now DirectX 11 is installed on the system, and therefore the d3dx11_43.dll library is also installed.
If an error with the d3dx11_43.dll file appears when you start a game or program, you most likely do not have the required version of DirectX installed or your system files are corrupted. Most often, the problem can be solved simply by installing or reinstalling the DirectX package that comes with most games, or by updating the Visual C++ components. Sometimes the standard Windows system recovery utility sfc /scannow helps. The main thing is not to download this file from dubious sites, as it is unsafe and almost never works. It is better to restore the system or install everything you need from official sources.
Method 3: Update the OS
This method is primarily suitable for those who have the latest version of Windows 10 installed. As we mentioned earlier, DirectX is updated along with system updates, and if any of the libraries are missing or damaged, a new version will be added instead. However, users of earlier versions should also install updates to fix any issues that may prevent system components from working properly. For Windows 10, the procedure is as follows:
- Open “Start” and go to “Settings”.
- Go to the “Update & Security”.
- Here, click on the button “Check for updates”. If they have already been found, install them by restarting your PC. Don't forget to install the optional updates, which are also visible in the screenshot below.
-
If there are no updates, use the other recommendations in our article. If you get an error instead, use our other material. For owners of older versions of the system, the instructions can also be found at one of the links below.

As you can see, problems with d3dx11_43.dll are not a death sentence, but rather an annoying technical glitch. Most often, the cause lies in the absence of the necessary components in the system, which simply need to be installed.
The most reliable and safest way to solve this problem is to download and install the DirectX package from the official Microsoft website. This ensures that all the necessary files will appear in your system, and you will not get a virus while trying to find a single library in questionable places.
In most cases, this simple step completely solves the problem. After installation, restart your computer and run the game or program that was complaining about the error again. Most likely, everything will work as it should, and you can calmly continue doing your business.
