Installing Instagram on an Android or iOS smartphone is super easy. If you have an Android phone, open Google Play, find Instagram, tap “Install,” and wait for it to download. For iPhone and iPad, go to the App Store, find the app, tap the cloud icon or button, and it will download automatically. Installing the Instagram app on your phone

Actions that are similar in nature within these operating systems are performed slightly differently, and there are several methods to choose from, each of which will be discussed below.
Android

Method 1: Google Play Market (smartphone)
Most Android smartphones and tablets come with a pre-installed app store called Play Market. Using it, you can install the Instagram social network client on your mobile device in just a few taps.
- Launch the Play Market. Its shortcut may be on the home screen and is definitely in the apps menu.
- Tap on the search bar and start typing the name of the app – Instagram. As soon as a prompt with the social network icon appears, select it to go to the description page. Click on the green button Once in the application removal menu, find in the list.
- The app installation process will begin on your device, which will not take long. Once it is complete, you can open the app by clicking the corresponding button.

Go to Google Play Market
- Once you are on the Google Store home page, go to the section in its menu “Applications”.
- Enter in the search bar “Instagram” and press on the keyboard. ‘ENTER’ or use the magnifying glass icon on the right. The client you are looking for may be located directly on the search page, in the block “Basic app package”. In this case, you can simply click on its icon.
- In the list of search results that will appear on the screen, select the first option – Instagram (Instagram). This is our client.

So, if your mobile device does not have Play Market, you can install Instagram using an APK file, which you will need to download separately. Note that you can install any version of the app in the same way (for example, an older version if you don't like the latest one for some reason or if it is simply not supported).
Important: Do not download APKs from dubious and unverified web resources, as they may harm your smartphone and/or contain viruses. The safest site for Android mobile app installation files is APKMirror, so we will use it in our example.
Download Instagram APK file
- Follow the link above and select the appropriate version of Instagram; the new ones are at the top. To go to the download page, tap on the name of the application.
Note: Please note that the list of available options includes alpha and beta versions, which we do not recommend downloading due to their instability.
- Scroll down the page with the description of the social network client to the button “SEE AVAILABLE APKS” and click on it.
- Select the version of the application that is suitable for your specific device. Here you need to look at the architecture (Arch column). If you do not know this information, refer to your device's support page or tap on the link “handy FAQ”, located above the download list.
- After clicking on the name of a specific version, you will be redirected to its download page, which you need to scroll down to the “DOWNLOAD APK”. Tap on it to start the download.
If you have not previously downloaded files via a browser on your mobile device, a window will appear requesting access to the storage. Tap “Next”, then “Allow”, after which the APK download will begin.
- When the download is complete, a notification will appear in the notification shade. You can also find the Instagram installer in the folder “Downloads”, which will require the use of any file manager.
To start the installation process, simply tap on the downloaded APK. If you have not previously installed applications from unknown sources, you will need to provide the appropriate permission. iPhone
Apple device owners who plan to use Instagram for iPhone, just like Android users, usually have no difficulty installing the app that provides access to the service. There is more than one way to install Instagram on an iOS device.
Method 1: Apple App Store
The easiest way to get Instagram on your iPhone is to download it from the App Store, Apple's app store, which comes pre-installed on all modern versions of iOS. In fact, the instructions below are currently the only way to install this app that Apple recommends.
- Launch the App Store by tapping the store icon on your iPhone screen.
- To find the app page in the huge App Store catalog, tap “Search” and enter your query in the field that appears “Instagram”, press “Search”. The first result in the search results list is what we are looking for – click on the service icon.

Method 2: iTunes
Virtually all iPhone owners used iTunes, the official tool developed by Apple, to work with their devices. After the developer released version 12.7 of this program, its users lost the ability to access the App Store from a PC to install software on smartphones, so to implement the Instagram installation algorithm described below on an iPhone, you will need to install an older version of iTunes on your computer than the one offered by Apple for download from the official website.

- Open iTunes 12.6.3 and configure the program:
- Select “Programs” from the list of sections available in iTunes,
go to the tab “App Store”.
- Enter a query in the search field “Instagram”,

- Download the distributive and install iTools.
- Run the program and connect your iPhone to your computer.
- Go to the section “Applications”, click on the name of the item in the list on the left side of the iTools window.
- Call the function “Install”, by clicking on the corresponding link located at the top of the window.
- A file selection window will appear where you need to navigate to the location of the Instagram application IPA file. Next, select the package and click “Open”.
- After downloading to iTools and then verifying the authenticity of the iOS application file, the package will begin to unpack.
